Wordpress Plugin: WP Post To Twitter

Version 1.5.0 has now been released.

* This Plugin Requires CURL To Work *

This Wordpress Twitter plugin is a nice simple plugin. All it does is post updates from your blog to your twitter account when you create a fresh post and allows you to tweet from you blog. Some other features are:

  • Auto shorten URL’s with tinyurl
  • Validation to make sure you can tweet or warns you if you cant
  • Automatic character limitation to make sure you don’t post anything over 140 characters
  • Good for SEO, creating automatic links to your blog and it’s posts

Installation

All you have to do is download version 1.1.0 from the link below, unzip it, upload it to your plugins folder and activate it from the plugins menu.

Hope you like it :)

    Come and get it :)

Just now tried it, but my Twitter account was not updated (and yes, I did add the correct Twitter username/password to this plugin’s settings. Is there some sort of delayed posting to Twitter, or is it just not working with Press This?

Hi Aine, Just checked out, uploaded and tested the plugin for posts and tweeting direct with no issues. Could you re download the plugin and try again? Really sorry it’s not working for you and I’d like to find out why!

I am also having the same issue with it not posting even though the plugin is activated and login info is correct. Thoughts?

Hi Nick, if you look at the top it mentions you need CURL support in you PHP installation. I need to put this in the plugin docs just haven’t had the time.

I think I’ve found a bug in your otherwise excellent plug-in. I’d test further, but for obvious reasons I’d prefer not to with our live blog, and I don’t have any sacrificial blogs or twitter accounts yet.

If I make a post as the user currently logged in, it works fine, but if I change the author to another user, then the post never reaches twitter.

    Cheers, Laurie.

Looking into it for you now :)

    Thanks for the report!

How can I change the text that appears on Twitter. It says “we have updated…” or something with “we”. I would like to change it to “I”.

    Kind regards,

    Michelle

    Hi Glyn,

A public “thank-you” for a speedy reply, and a speedy resolution to the buglet I raised. Top service, and I can confirm that it now works faultlessly.

Following on from Michelle’s post above about changing the text, I’d like to second that request. It would be a top piece of functionality to have.

I’ve edited the code to do what I want, and naturally, lost the changes when you new version came out! For those out there who are programmers, some means of doing it via the options would be top. Please!

    Cheers, Laurie.

PS. I do realise that this is a non-trivial change…
