About Me
So who are you?
Hi I’m Glyn Mooney. I’m a web developer in North Wales currently working for Coleg Llandrillo Cymru as part of the marketing team. I over the last 5 years have been doing a lot of work with PHP 5 and even learned how to harness it as an Object Orientated language to rapidly create stable, scaleable applications. As well as PHP I specialise in front end scripting and meta languages such as CSS, XHTML, HTML5 and JavaScript. Once I got the bug for PHP I started to work with library’s such as PEAR, CakePHP, Zend and even developed my own MVC application using PEAR classes as a base.
Over the years I’ve been developing applications from scratch or I’ve had the pleasure of working with the following:
- WordPress
- ZenCart
- Magento
I’ve even developed credit card payment gateways for vendors such as PayPal, SecPay, WorldPay and so on.
As part of my last role as a developer at Worldspan Creative I was required to make the move from PHP to a more productive, secure and stable development platform. Using Python with Django, I and my team produced some very advanced applications.
In my new role at Coleg Llandrillo Cymru I have been required to expand my knowlage further with C#, .NET. Linq and ASP.NET MVC for the new production of the piblic website.
I’ve recently decided to brance out and learn some more languages and I’m currently learning Ruby, Rails, C, Objective-C and brushing up on my Java. With these new skills under my belt I intend to spend less time developing the common CRUD part’s of the application and get on with Wowing the client on both desktop and mobile platforms.
So what’s the site for?
Well over the year’s I’ve learned a lot of thing’s that I wish I’d known a few years ago. So the site is intended to allow me to share this knowledge with the rest of the community as well as post pointers to other good sources of information along the way. So I hope you agree with what I’m doing and you’ll find something of interest around the site!
